‘Syntec Team’ blog series – Peter O’Mara

Welcome to the second of our ‘Syntec Team’ blog series.

Our team is at the core of everything that we do and plays a vital role in ensuring that every customer receives the highest level of service and support.

Each month we will bring you an interview with one of our team of experts. In February, we sat down with one of our Customer Services Engineers Peter O’Mara.

Hi Peter, thanks for taking time out of your day today to sit and answer my questions – it is much appreciated!

How long have you been at Syntec and what does a normal working day look like for you?

I’ve been working for Syntec for just over 5 years.

A typical day involves dealing with tickets and calls that come into the support team. We aim to provide our customers with the highest level of service, which often involves us making recommendations or providing advice outside the remit of the services that we provide.

What is your favorite thing about working for Syntec?

Helping customers, I know it sounds corny but I do really like it.

What was your first paying job?

Office boy (it was the 70’s) in a bacon factory.

If you could have any job in the world, what would you do?

A Fly-fishing instructor.

When you were a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

I wanted to be a Farmer

What is one thing that you would like to do in the next year that you have never done before?

Either fly fishing in Patagonia or salmon fishing in the Kola peninsula.

Which famous person in history would you like to spend the day with?

Jack Charlton, fishing for salmon in the west of Ireland, which he loved.

If you could time travel, when and where would you go?

Limerick, Ireland, 24th May 1963, so I could do it all again.

What’s the best place you have ever traveled to?

Laos

What trait do you admire most in others?

Integrity

Thanks again for sitting down with us Peter and for all of your answers – It is clear to us that you have a real passion for fly fishing! Hopefully, 2021 will allow you to do lots more of it.

Keep an eye out for next month’s blog where we will get to know another member of our team.
